The South African telecommunications market is an incredibly tough industry and any brand hoping to challenge the status quo needs a leader with muscle and an unparalleled understanding of the industry. Douglas Craigie Stevenson undoubtedly brings those qualities to the position.
Craigie Stevenson joined Cell C as Chief Operations Officer in September 2017, taking on the oversight of the mission critical operational divisions of the business including; Property and Procurement; Technical operations, which comprises Network operations and IT; and the Regional operations.
He is an accomplished telecommunications executive with more than 20 years of experience in the sector, having served in various senior positions across Africa, including South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique. He is well versed in planning, execution and negotiation at various organisational levels, with a strong focus on strategic leadership.
Craigie Stevenson is a pragmatic leader who values openness, realising that no business can be functional without understanding the realities of context. His ability to quickly identify and target problem areas within a business was proven in his work at Telecom Networks Malawi, where he was instrumental in the launch of the 4.5G network.
Previous positions include Chief Executive Officer of Telekom Networks Malawi plc, Managing Director: Vodacom Business Africa Group, Chief Financial Officer: Vodacom Business Africa Group/ Enterprise Business Partner Vodacom South Africa, Financial Director: Vodacom Mozambique and Commercial Director and Financial Director at Vodacom Tanzania.

Craigie Stevenson holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of the Free State as well as a Bachelor of Accounting Science (Honours) from UNISA.
